Haha. Well first off, congratulations! I think obviously, you should stay away from things which are high in acid like tomatoes, pizza, and citric foods. Try to eat foods that are as pH balanced as you can. For example, beans, lentils, yogurt, etc. Also, try laying and sleeping on your left side, because on your right side your esophagus tilts down, hence leading to acid reflux if the hole isn't tight enough. Laying on the left side will keep the stomach acids down. Good luck!

Dont know much about the things you should eat, but listed below is what I should avoid, and with that u can know that the rest is safe to eat!
Certain foods and lifestyle are considered to promote gastroesophageal reflux:
Coffee, alcohol, calcium supplements, and excessive amounts of Vitamin C supplements are stimulants of gastric acid secretion. Taking these before bedtime especially can promote evening reflux. Calcium containing antacids are in this group[3].
Foods high in fats and smoking reduce lower esophageal sphincter competence, so avoiding these tends to help, as well. Fat also delays emptying of the stomach.
Having more but smaller meals also reduces the risk of GERD, as it means there is less food in the stomach at any one time.
avoid eating for 2 hours before bedtime
elevate the head of the bed on 6-inch (15 cm) blocks. (Pillows under the head and shoulders have been shown to be ineffective.)
avoid soft drinks that contain caffeine
avoid chocolate and peppermint
avoid spicy foods
avoid acidic foods like oranges and tomatoes(okay when fresh.)
avoid cruciferous vegetables: onions, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts
milk and milk-based products contain calcium and fat, so should be avoided before bedtime.
Avoiding food for 2 hours before bedtime and not lying down after a meal are frequently recommended lifestyle modifications.

My father has AR too. Try eating foods that aren't too fatty, oily, and of course, with less acid. Sometimes things you don't expect to be high in acid are. Stay away from chocolate, tomatos and anything tomato-y, coffee, fried foods, etc.

Try a low carb diet. Sometimes my A/R is so bad, i wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, chocking, because there's acid in my esophagus. I have noticed that if I keep a low carb diet, this does not happen. I have carbs here and there, but I try to limit them and I do just fine.

Don't hate me but... If you follow a diabetic diet you will be just fine Sty away from greasy, spicy, Caffeine, tart, extreme sweets. I also have it so bad that some nights I have to sleep sitting up right.
If I eat a diabetic diet I am fine. Its not glamorous, but it is food.

I am on Nexium(the Purple Pill). Works great. Get the generic prescription from your Dr. works as well and a lot cheaper.
