There are so many things that can lead to a miscarriage and so many more that science has yet to discover.
An incompetent uterus, a uterine rupture, a bad fall... etc...

Most early miscarriages (as many as 60% of first trimester ones) will remain unexplained. It is usually assumed these losses are genetic, where the chromosomes simply did not replicate correctly. Many people will assume that something that happened recently, such as an illness, fall, or exposure to something will have caused the miscarriage. This is rarely true, since by the time a miscarriage is diagnosed or begins, the baby has been lost for quite some time. Hopefully this section will help you understand the causes; you should also read the section on myths.

Causes of Miscarriage

When a baby is created, it takes half of its genes from the mothers egg (that ovulated that month) and the other half from the fathers sperm. At the exact moment of conception, all of the genes mix and come together.
Sometimes errors occur when the genes combine and important information is lost. The fetus then has abnormal chromosomes, even though both parents have perfectly normal chromosomes. This is a common cause of miscarriage, and about 50% of the time there is no explanation, nothing that could have been done.

A fall, someone hitting you in the stomach, it also could be that your body was not ready to carry baby full term, drinking too much, not being in good health, being anemic, many, may causes. It is something that you cannot prevent, if it is going to happen, it just will.

I truly hope that you are not asking this question to try to have a miscarriage.******************************

Most of the time when a woman miscarries it is because something is wrong with the baby. The baby would be unable to survive so it aborts itself.
