around eight... he can start formal training... but you can train him earlier if you want... it's up to you but make it fun first because earlier is just to young and besides he cannot stay that focused yet coz he's just a child... around eight when he understands what and why he's doing it...

Legally, you can compete as young as 8 years old in the USA, with the exception of like two states. As an official, however, I do not reccomend anyone under the age of 12 competing, for maturity reasons.
(Most 8 yr olds still think it's funny when a guy gets nailed in a very sensitve, private, and very illegal-to-hit area of the male anatomy. At least if a 12 yr old does it, and the ref tells him not to do so again, a 12 yr old will most likely heed the warning)

A boxer can become registered with USA Boxing and compete when he or she turns 8 years old. Most youngsters start actively training when they are 7. We have some excellent boxers who are 8 or 9 and they are really fun to watch.

well the english boxer (who was in the olympics) is only about 19 and hes been boxing for a few years so i would say 17
