i am just looking to see what rights i have as a custodial parent. Where my son can and cant go when he is with the non custodial parent?

First you need to see what your custody agreement has laid out. Custodial parent simple means the child's primary residence is with you and you make the majority of the decision regarding the child's well-being. Most custody agreements have stipulations like: cannot leave the country, county or city without permission. However, if you just don't want him going to the movies on a school night there's not much you can do about that. You can document the behavior and consult with your attorney and when you have your customdy agreeement updated to included certain rules. However, the other parent can fight these stipulations and if you cannot agree the judge will decide for you.

It depends on what was outline in the custody hearing and state laws. There are many websites that cover state laws for custody. You should be able to do a search for family law in ______ (put your state) and the laws will come up. Really if it is not outline specifically in the custody papers I don't think that the state limits the non-custodial parent from taking them places except outside of the state you are living in.
