From what I hear, depression is the most imcomprehensible sensation there is for people who've never experienced it.

I'll try to explain-
You see, aside from the mental and physical energy drain, the primary power behind depression is a hopelessness. It's horror. It's an attitude. It's pessimism.

Anybody in that state looks at the world like, "Help? What the F*ck? If I can't get through this on my own, like it's always been, then I'll die."
Sometimes we decide early that our obstacles are too hard and force the "dying" part. We try not to, but sometimes it happens.

Help.
The mere idea, to anybody who'se been thrust into depression, not only seems impossible. it's downright insulting that somebody would suggest it as a possibility.
And I sure as Hell would never consider it a possibility.

... Until I got help, that is. Modern drugs can work wonders. Just never tell anybody to see a therapist or a psychologist. Talkers who don't give good drugs really ARE insulting, worthless, F*ckbags.

Okay, so if you stomach or head ached everyday would you just deal with it? Why go do something about it right? So if you have depression then you should do the same. WRONG! Depression is just as debilitating as any physical illness, and it in turn can actually cause physical ailments. Stress reaks physical effects on the body. Depression is painful and should be treated if it persist. Some depressives become suicidal or don't have the energy or drive to live anymore. You should definately get help before it reaches this point. If you like to cry and feel bad then go ahead. But I for one am educated and know that the brain is just as physical as the body.

Yes, a person can be virtually paralysed with depression. I know from experience that you dont just say to yourself, " I am depressed and I need help". That is the last thing on your mind. In fact, you just lie there with nothing on your mind. Waiting for the hours and minutes to tick away.

When people are so depressed they do not know they are depressed.....there hormones are all messed up and they are lost. The only way for them to get help is if someone recognizes the problem and deals with it.....or if the depressed person hurts themselves or if they hurt someone else....they do not know they need help...i hope this helps you.....

People who fall deep into the pit of depression get so depressed that they cant even get up off the couch to go grocery shopping, none the less to go out and seek help.

Many people don't realize what they feel is depression. They think it is all in their mind and feel stupid to ask for help, thinking they will be rejected and told to "get over it". The symptoms of depression should be recognized and acted upon. This is a disease and it can be life threatening.

I didn't recognize the signs that I was depressed for almost three years. Its very easy to look at it and say I'm just going through a rough time.

doc2be is right. when someone is severely depressed
they feel that nothing can help so why bother. generally
speaking the only way to get out is for someone else to
care enough to litterally grab them up by the ruff and
drag them to a doctor and then stand over them and if
necessary shove the meds down their throat. i hope
none of you ever get in this state. many never get back
and for those who do it is a long bumpy road.
