Every young person NEEDS to spend at least a little bit of college as a single person, whether you are going to date or not. I was in a serious relationship of a lot of my college years, but it wasn't until I was single that I learned a lot about life... from friends to finances, and from reality to responsibility. There are far too many stimulations in college, especially because you will begin to see the same people everyday.... and usually much more than you see your bf or gf if you live in different cities or states. Studying is important, work is important, freedom is important.

This is why it is so hard for young couples out of high school who say they are in a "serious" relationship to stay together. College matures you away from your family which is important and these young people begin to discover what aspects in life and personalities and traits in other people are more important.

I'd say 95% of "serious" relationships don't last. I haven't seen nor heard of one that has.

Too many changes happen during the college years... (but that's not necessarily bad!) When I was in college, my boyfriend at the time went to another school a few hours away... We were together for almost 2 years... and we lasted only 2 more months!

Sorry to burst your relationship bubble, but the odds are not on your side. Don't cry, its just a poker phrase. The reason it won't last...do you want a tissue, no, okay...is because he is going to see all sorts of new girls...Please don't do that on my sleeve...but don't worry, you will meet all sorts of new guys! Sure thats not what you want now, well maybe if it was that guy you see in the hall, or that dude there, or...OMG!!! There are other men in the world! Some of them actually going into professions were they will make more money! or have a better personality! or are equipped like John Holmes!

I know I am a jerk, but thats the truth. I got $5.00 that says he cheats first.

It possible but very unlikely, both of you are going to meet new people and want some kind of romance. Good luck though. It didn't work out for me (thank god, because I would have never met my wife).
