I am not being derogitory at all, but I have NEVER understood what is sexy about having one, or about sucking on someone until you bruise them....what is the deal??? This stems from a question asking how to get rid of them, I am asking all ages....why get them???

I hate hickies. They are tantamount to a dog pissing on something to mark its territory. It is an immature act steming from insecurtity, one attempting to show that you are taken (as if you were an object to be possessed).
As for getting rid of them, take a fine-tooth comb and brush over the hickey several times. Apply some pressure, but not too hard. You don't want to break any more blood vessels. The hickey wont disappear immediately, but will blend in more with yoru skin and will vanish quicker.

It's not the hickey it self ... it's the passion that goes into making one that drives me insane ... !
When I get them or my man gets them it's not on purpose ... it's just something that happened in the heat of the moment .. taken a little too far ... my neck is the most sensitive area on my body ... so when he starts kissing and sucking on my neck while he's on top of me ... thrusting in and out ... I don't care if he draws blood or not ... it feels so good ... !
I'm not proud of them and I don't show them off ... but every-time I see it it reminds me of how it got there .. and I'm sure it was a great night of sex for me to get a hickey ... !

i don't find them that sexy either...i hate them on my neck and i barely let my gf on my neck cuz i know she will leave marks. if i do get a hickey i rather have it below my neck where its not noticeable and for the whole world to see...I'm not sure on how to get rid of them but In 11th grade a friend of mine had a hickey on her neck and she took her lip gloss tube and put it against her neck and started to twist the skin for a while and the more she did the more it started to fade..so maybe that can work.

Must be a teenage thing. Or for sure, proof of inexperience.
Its a sign that they have been having some "fun"... trying to keep it a secret after wards.... all the while, knowing during the act of actually getting one.... everyone will know what they have been doing anyway.

Note the ages of the people who do this and you'll see a little clue...it's kinda like "marking your territory" so other members of the opposite sex know that the party is "taken".

They are so tacky I hate them, but men like them to leave there mark on you to make everyone know you've been with a guy recently so they back off and think you have a fella. So cheap

some people purposely give them to mark territory, but that's mostly kids, as for adults, sometimes people get carried away with biting and sucking on ones skin, so it cant be helped

I don't like them where people can see them. I give my bf hickeys all the time, only because he likes it when I suck on his neck. And I don't necessarily mean to give him one.

I personally am not crazy about it, but a lot of guys and girls give to each other to mark that territory as there own, My special word for hickeys are HATER MARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
