We have a stable economy (our internationa reserves are at record high levels) and there is still a lot of people crossing illegally to the US. The problem is the unequal distribution of wealth, and corruption.
The best anti-immigration policy would be the creation of piles of well-paid jobs in Mexico.

If Mexico had a stable economy how would that solve the US's need for cheap labor? Do you think the Average american is going to start picking strawberries or lettuce anytime soon once mexico has a "stable" economy? Remember some of the Indians doing the cheap labor in the US are from central America, so they can care less if you think they're from Mexico. Many of them don't stay in Mexico because guess what, Mexico deports central Americans back to their birth nations, so its better the central Americans trek up to the US. With this in Mind if Mexico had a better economy, nothing would change because the US 'll still need people doing labor done by immigrants, so the 'change' must come from the US side.

To Hell With Mexico And Her Economy
The Best Anti-ILLEGAL Immigration Policy Would Be
To JAIL The ILLEGAL Employers In The USA
That Would Provide NO JOBS To Non-Citizens
And The ILLEGAL Aliens Will Stop Coming Here
And Many That Are Already Here
Will Go Home On Their Own

Yes, this would be the best anti-immigration policy. Mexico is one of the worst coutries in the world in terms of corruption in the governement. Did you know that Mexico produces 40% of the world's silver supply? But because of the corruption, the citizens will never get a taste of success. So what do they do? They migrate to the U.S. So the fault definitely lies with the government.

Absolutely. Just look at Canada. The reason we don't have lots of illegal aliens coming south is because the economy is stronger in Canada than in Mexico. People come looking for jobs. If the jobs are in Mexico then most of them will stay where they are. However only about half of illegal aliens who enter the US each year come from Mexico so we still have to address that part of the equation.

You can blame american corporations and this administration for opening our borders with NAFTA and CAFTA. This was suppose to help mexico by american companies moving there and paying a good wage but this did not happen. They pay mexicians next to nothing and in turn make bigger profits, profits that no american or mexican will ever see. So we open our borders even more, more illegals, drugs, and who knows what else, all in the name of World Trade and its all a lie. Americans in turn lose jobs, get lower wages and no benefits, Bush and our government is raping both americans and mexicians and the only people the gain is again, the top 1% of income earners in the US, they call themselves capitalists but they are really Evil Greedy Pigs that need to be taken to slaughter.

Giselle is right, that is the case of my country Guatemala. It is a wealthy country but because of the corruption most of the money is in the hands of the rich. This has gotten better though since corruption is every day less and less. Oh and for the guy who said no jobs for non citizens, I'm not a citizen and I can still work legally in the U.S. That's shows me that your anti immigrant feeling is based on pure ignorance.

Not really....
The best anti-immigration policy would be to have ALL nations have a stable economy..
You'd still have people coming over from El salvador, honduras, Philippines, guatemala, etc..

Yes....Totally....If Mexico's govt. would clean up its act and serve the people, like any good govt does, then we wouldn't have the influx we have coming now....
But, since the corruption is generational, I don't see anything short of a civil war fixing the problems over there....But how can people revolt if they are not even allowed to bare arms? Its a sad situation for those people...

it depends on which way the stability runs. if it stabilizes to support only the rich and elite and political, then we in america will always have an ILLEGAL immigration issue.
if the economy stabilizes to the point that the poor can rise in salary and status, then yes, it will greatly help the american immigration policy.
