Because it is a tradition in your family would be my opinion. In my family papa is for grandpa but I have had friends whose kids called their dad papa. It might be cultural, true...but I think it is just a matter of preference. Prayers =)

why? what's wrong with it? i call my dad papa and it's fine with me..

and it's how they brought you up.. he prefer you to call him that way instead of dad or daddy or whatever..
