I bought an Aquarius WF240, shortly after the warranty expired (about 14 months) it went bang!! Strangely enough my neighbours who has the exact same model did the same in the same time period. At first we thought it might be a power surge but she got an engineer and he said it was the motherboard which had blown up. Can anyone tell me is this a fault with this model, we bought if from the same shop, I took the extended warranty on my machine but if it is a fault what are our rights???

Sounds like it has an inbuilt self destruct button, bet you can't do anything except buy a new one!

Youre lucky it lasted 12 months mine went bang after about 3 days,it wasnt the aquarius it was the ultima which is electronic,i got hotpoint out to it and the bearings and electrics had gone in it,they swapped it for a new 1 which was nothing but trouble, the last time it broke down my mate came out to it as he is in the trade and he looked at it and the bearings had gone and the drum as a split in it.ITs now in the garage just taking up space as my mate got me a LG one which is brilliant no trouble at all,ive been advised not to have hotpoint again,my lg one as no belt on its one of these new ones,on the front theres a opening so if anyhing gets stuck it just comes out of the front,no more getting stuff stuck in the pump,i also had a hotpoint frostfree fridge freezer about 6 months ago and ive had that swapped for a new one already, that kept banging and the side panel in the freezer was split.Touch wood no problems with my new hotpoint fridge freezer.

You can easily trace the leak by removing the back panel and looking for traces of dry detergent around the large pulley bearing. If that is clean lay the machine on it's side on an old blanket or towel and look for leaky stains underneath. Detergent always shows up leaks even when dry.
