Interesting question! There's nothing that can really be considered "most important," but I can suggest something you might want to include.
You should make yourself a guide to the Theban alphabet. Theban, aka "Witches' runes," are a somewhat secret alphabet. Each Theban character corresponds to a letter in the Romanized alphabet (the one exception is the fact that u and v are represented by the same Theban rune). You can English-content spells in Theban, and you can give them greater power as you are forced to concentrate on writing the correct Theban symbol for each word.
Good luck!

Update it as needed. Spells that worked, herbal and color correspondences that are working for you, new ideas you've learned, quotes from books and websites you've been reading that struck your heart...things that you think will help you in the future that you don't want to forget.
At this point in your path, it's probably a good idea to also keep a mirror book. That's a diary of your life as a Pagan. Write about what you're thinking, what you believe and don't believe, what sounds good and doesn't, the challenges and joys you've had, etc. It'll help you refine and solidify your beliefs. Try not to make it a blog--write it by hand. It's for you and the Gods only.

Never think anything in your tools or your BOS is 'most important' in any way. Firstly, your BoS should reflect your own growth and development. Thus, what is important will change over time. Secondly, YOU are the most important thing in your BoS. Remember that always.
As stupid as it sounds, whenever I think of magick and ritual, I am reminded of the scene in Willow where the sorcerer is testing the hopefuls, and none of them pick the right sorcerer's finger... but willow, afterwards, confesses that he wanted to pick his OWN finger... and this is at the heart of any ritual approach to life.
YOU are the source of your power.

A BOS is your own personal book of your experiences and spiritual journey - what works for you and what doesn't. The most important thing to put into your BOS is YOU!

Whatever is most important to you. It's your book. Your personal BOS. So it really doesn't matter what others think you should put in it.

Your book of shadows is personal to you... you might not want to ask others on Y! for their opinions...
The rede is a good start... maybe the Serentity Prayer... start off with the basics of good spirituality and then get creative as you practice...
btw - not pagan here - just pagan friendly...

Isn't part of the point to being a neo-pagan that you get to choose what you think is important enough to include in your personal book of shadows?
