The Shroud of Turin is now suspected to have been one of the first PHOTOGRAPHS ever devised, and likely was completed by Leonardo Da Vinci....This could have been performed with lemon juice or other acidic compounds and exposure to sunlight...
And yes, the reason that the Holy See doesnt want anymore testing performed is because science can prove without a doubt that the shroud is a fake - and that would have the Church lose quite a bit on money on tourism, donations and even converts and beleivers!
Also, let us not forget that, during the middle ages, one of the most popular things to do was sell religious artifacts! You could buy bones of saints (fake), pieces of Jesus' cross (fake) and a multitude of other faked icons...

Tough question.
So who could have made such a painting to baffle the best of scientists??? Who?
There is one unanswered question though; how did minute seeds of a flower which only grows in Jerusalem find themselves embedded in the shroud??? Since the Shroud have never been to Jerusalem?????

The marks on the shroud are not consistent with first century burial practices. Cloth was not just draped over a person, but wrapped around him tightly (sort of like a mummy), and a separate cloth was wrapped around his head (called a napkin in the KJV).
John 11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

The reason the Holy See (and other historians) don't want even more extensive testing done on the Shroud of Turin is that it is old and in a very delicate state.

Oh please. Just another fraud, like the da Vinci Code and the discovery of Noah's ark. And the "Left Behind" series. It stirs up the faithful long enough to fleece them out of more money. Its just more Virgin Mary on a piece of toast nonsense.
