If he asks you out great. By asking you out that means he wants to get to know you. After dating you may both find out you don't really like each other -- or you may click. Don't get so hungup on this or that - just go with the flow.

Hey don't have the greatest expectations because if he doesn't then you're seting yourself up for some serious dissapointment and it sucks when that happens. But then again don't be a pessimist. Think positive maybe he will.

If he likes you than that warrants him asking you out. Personally I don't think your friends would stear you wrong in that direction. Just brew up some confidence and let it go.
