My husband and I bought a little Hoopty cuz we needed another car. We got it from a dealer who sells cheap little used cars. We bought the car "as seen". so I'm not sure if we can do anything. Anyway... when we drove home we realized that the odometer and the spedometer don't work. We didn't really look at it when we testdrove it, cuz we just drove around the corner and we focused more on the running of the car. What do we do now though? Isn't it against the law to sell a car where the odometer doesn't work? Well, we bought is as seen, but if he sold it to us illegally, then he HAS to fix it, doesn't he?!
What can we do?
I need to know for sure if it's illegal or not!!!
Thanx

It is illegal to sell a car that the odometer doesnt work. Call your DMV and ask them to make sure. Once you have that facts call the dealership and dempand that they fix it or you will report them for false mile readings on their cars.

Find out if the title states odometer out of limits, etc.. if this is on the title & you bought it as so, you're screwed. If not, states take odometer fraud seriously and you should persue it.

You need to check with at least the BBB. Other than that if your state has lemon laws you could force him to fix that.

Sounds like its yours. You left the lot with it, with no implied warranties.
