im full italian and my dad is a bit strict but not to the point where i can't leave the house. i was raised at a very young age to respect my family and if i don't he yells at me in italian and i can hardly understand it! but he also is very protective of me and if anyone gives me a problem he'll kick some a.ss =)

I was married to an Italian...wouldn't say either he or his father or grandfather were strict...they really didn't pay that much attention to their kids.

YES my father was VERY strict!!!
Guess it must be their way of avoiding confrontation,... by having the answer of "No GO TO YOUR ROOM"
Didn't matter what I wanted the answer was always the same,...

No a personality trait really cannot be accurately applied to a whole group of people simply due to an historic country of origin.

Honestly, I think its not about the culture itself but the way the person is brought up, you can be american,Portuguese,english or even chinese? Doesnt matter, it has nothing to do with the culture....
