It depends...some people have bowel movements daily, while other's only have bowel movements twice a week.

If you go for 5-7 days without a bowel movement..your probably feeling really bloated and bad!!!

Take an over the counter laxative...that should get you going...lol

If you eat a healthy diet, three days would be an indicator that you have a problem and you may want to try a natural laxative or fiber supplement. If you do not eat a healthy diet and this is a common problem for you, you should incorporate more fiber into your diet. Certain drugs, especially narcotics, can also cause constipation, so be careful if you are taking pain medication.

When I was younger, I was actually constipated. Ever since that point, my doctor has been repeating and repeating and repeating that it's best to go every day.

Of course, common sense prevails. If it's not happening, it's not happening. After three or so days of nothing, you're probably suffering from bad diet choices or something worse.

Either way, go to a doctor.

Have you been eating a lot of red meat? Stuff that helps me are spices and fresh vegetables. Broccoli, romaine lettuce, etc. Fiber and roughage {whole wheat bread, corn, so forth} move things along.

Avoid cheese and peanut butter. Try to drink a lot of water and exercise.

I think three days of no bowel movements, is considered constipation. If someone you know if having this problem, suggest prune juice or if that doesn't work, laxatives.
