Why is there so much "Black on Black" violence?

I don't buy the poverty begets violence argument. It doesn't seem to necessarily follow for other groups of people.

I disagree with those who say it's a genetic thing because in many Caribbean countries there is very little black on black violence - in fact very little violence of any kind. In Barbados, the policemen don't even have guns.

Tough question. I don't think anyone really knows the answer. Maybe it's a matter of racism turning "inward"; kind of an outward display of self-hate, caused by hundreds of years of discrimination & racial impoverishment. It's a hard call- and a crying shame...

I think you already have some good answers and some duds, just looking for points. I live in the south, where the black population is probably greater than any other part of the country. Most black on black crime occurs in the lower class black neighborhoods, where a good many people are unemployed. Have you ever heard"the idle mind is the devil's workshop". I believe lack of organized activity such as school or work is the greatest cause.

It is part of the culture and an area that is unfortunately considered off limits to discuss in our politically correct society. Crime rates that deal with rape, assault, and theft are higher in areas where blacks dominate. And it really doesn't matter what part of the world that you look at. The US, the Caribbean, eastern Costa Rica, Belize, northern Colombia, north eastern Venezuela, northern Brazil, the Guyana's, and Africa. This is a fact that too many people pretend doesn't exist or try to blame on racism or former colonial exploitation or the capitalist economic system. As to the real reasons, now you are getting into something that deals with genetics and environment and it is virtually impossible to have a viable discussion or investigation without being accused of being a racist. Too bad because we all pay a high price.

each incidence of violence will have different reasons. Every phenomena generally has many reasons. I could think of many reasons. Try and think of a few yourself. e.g.
Many negative behaviours occur when positive ways of self expression are blocked. Somehow it seems to me that this is a major influence for all, not just blacks.
frustration
natural urges that have no positive outlet
competition

They forget who they are, what their race means, are uneducated ( i mean about life), the circumstances , like their enviroment, they don't thrust no-one and i mean not even their own mamma, they refuse to realise what their fore fathers and mothers have gone through to get them where they are today and maybe it's just me but a black person who commits a crime be bragging about to the whole world right after , then there are the ones who b back stabbing for a little money, drugs , hate , greed need i go on

Black guys are killing each other in wars all over Africa and in ghettoes all over America. It seems to be endemic to the black race. I don't know why these guys have to go around blowing each other's heads off all the time. It must be a d*ck thing with the gun as a phallic replacement. Or are black people just more violent than other races? Who knows.

I'm black but it is racist to say all blacks are like this. I am not an i'm not the only exception. These guys who do this call themselves, niggas, and thats what they are. we aint all niggas.

and i know plenty of guys who like the ghetto vibe, teaching there kids to swear and rap hip hop lyrics and so on.

It's a scene, they like it but they also make exscuses for it which is wrong, but they are extremely protective over it, just powerless to defend themselves despite media declaring otherwise.

It's nasty, tasteless and incrdibly low brow. Pigs in pigs swill.

Their culture glorifies violence. Just listen to rap music, and hear about the attitudes that they learn at home, starting from birth. There's Black on White too. In fact, there's more Black on White than White on Black, but Black on Black is probably the most common.
