Uinversal Studios and City Walk, The Griffith Observatory, Gene Autry Museum, Travel Town is good for the kids, the Castaways is a nice restaraunt overlooking all of Burbank in the hills, shopping, bars, and restaurants on Ventura Blvd (around Studio City and Sherman Oaks).

I would imagine the La Brea Tar Pits are still there. Universal Sudios and a ton of theme parks. Not a place to be bored.

All along Ventura Blvd. there is great shopping, boutiques, and fantastic restraunts.
Personally, I think there is more to avoid in the SF valley than there is good stuff.
