. . . worry about how the universe originated or whether or not we will still exist a million years from now?

Honestly, how does it really even make any difference in your present life if the universe is eternal, began with a big bang, or was created by a god? Or whether or not you think you will still be alive after you die (lol what a concept!)?

Just provoking discussion. Thanks

How so?
Do you think that if someone lives in the present without worrying about the future, that it means they will do evil things with no thought to the consequences?

Umm ... no.
I'm not talking about not planning for the future and not trying to better our lives. I'm talking about living in the here and now instead of living is constant worry about past and future.

Enjoy and learn from the past. Live in the present. Be aware of your current actions affecting the future.

As for Big Bang theory vs Creationism, I find it an interesting topic to discuss with open-minded people. Tis all.

As a Catholic, I agree with you completely.

Our purpose in life is to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. There are enough poor, hungry, lonely oppressed people in this world, here and now for us to focus our energy and thoughts on.

The Catholic Church talks very little about salvation or the end times. Our goal is not to live a life so that we will go to Heaven when we die, but to bring the Kingdom of God - a society of peace, justice and mercy - to this world.

If we do that to the best of our abilities, our salvation is assured.

It is an importance to those who want other to think differently about the concept but unlikely brings forth unity and tolerance in others beliefs or point of view. We should live like there's no tomorrow and not worry about what others point of view is.

If people all thought like that, we would still be living incaves covered partially buy smelly animal skins. It is the dreamers and seekers of knowledge that have given you the internet and computer to ask that. If you just exist in the here and now, are you living or just existing?

Yours is one of the best questions (observations) I have seen on this forum! And you are exactly right. Debating all of the things you mentioned is a time-waster. Live in the moment, enjoy all you can, and have a happy, full life. Period!

It does make a difference for how you present life! Of course, it's just human nature to wonder about our orgins. Of course, it shouldn't be something we ponder everyday, but once in a while is okay.
