I can't believe this question.

Thoughts of heaven and hell and God and Satan should be the last things on your mind ( Or rather not on your mind at all) when you are helping others, or being righteous, morally upright, etc. Humane feelings are not a function of faith in almighty.

What use is being good, if it is only to get to heaven. That'slike reading to get marks, rather than gaining knowledge, or observing Roza during Ramazan for getting slimmer ( If 30 days of fasting doesn't slim you down, what else will?).

I prefer the term beautiful, kind and loving. To me, the term righteous denotes an air of superiority I do not like nor would I hold over my fellow human being. One does not have to believe in God to be beautiful, kind and loving.

Beauty is subjective.

Righteous is defined as one who obeys the will of God.

Anyone can be beautiful in the "eye of the beholder" or self.

But, righteousness is only attainable by following the principles and precepts of the ONLY Righteous God. He, not man, defines what is righteous and what is not.

So, no, you cannot be righteous unless you believe in the inventor of righteousness.

Absolutely.....In fact I am finding that some of the atheists are practicing the principles, that I believe to be consistent with God's true nature, far more than what I see in the Christian circles...Things like honesty, compassion, love of others, caring about the planet, taking care of their bodies, etc..

In some Christian circles I have seen much dishonesty, hatefulness, polluting without thought, unhealthy living....All these things contribute to an ugly being who is boasting that they know God...Yuck.

I know so many beautiful, generous, helpful, and good people who do not believe in God. Righteousness is most of the time a negative personality trait. To me that implies the person is intolerant and unwilling to look at things from any other perspective.

Everything is given to us from God; whether or not one recognizes that it is from God does not make one less beautiful or righteous.

Absolutely....the most righteous people are often atheists because they understand that "cause and effect of righteousness" has nothing to do with a supreme being but rather, it is about YOU.....

We don't need to believe in a god we just have to live like there is one.

Oooh I can't WAIT to see the answers on this one! I love when people think the only reason they don't kill people and rape and pillage is because they believe in God.
