Why is it so hard to believe that Earth was just there? Why must have someone created it...? Aside from the automatic response "cause the bible says so" actually put in some thought - seriously. (NO LONG COPY PASTES FROM THE INTERNET BIBLE) Put effort into personal responses
What makes you think that someone snapped their fingers and POOF the universe is there. What is wrong with the idea of it always having been there. Why is that so hard to grasp

well, it wasn't "just there" but that doesn't mean we need to introduce a transcendental force into its creation. how planets are formed is actually one of the best understood processes in the universe. what is less understood is how a universe is formed, and i guess that's where some people's need for a creator comes in. to me claiming the universe/ the earth/ everything living or dead was created by a god sounds like intellectual laziness, it's just easier to believe that unquestioningly than to try and get your head around the - extremely complex - scientific explanation.

It is not hard to believe that the Earth was just there.
It is not hard to believe that a God exists who created it.
Both beliefs are based on pure speculation. Scientists cannot prove with any certainty how the universe was created or if it has existed forever. They can only theorize, based on physical evidence, about what might have been the chain of events which resulted in the universe which exists today.
Equally, religious fundamentalists cannot prove the creationist dogma which they believe in. Their belief is based on faith, which, to them, is just as powerful as scientific theory.
You have a good idea and belief that the universe has always existed. Good for you. At least you fervently believe in something, even though you can't prove it in any manner.
So, think abut taking the tact that most people have the right to their own ideas and beliefs about the beginnings of the universe. Their ideas are just as valid and provable as yours.

God didn't just snap His fingers He created every little thing. It's
hard to believe the world "was just here" even w/o the Bible
because it's like saying OK the world just came out of no where and there was all this life and creation well someone had to create it. God put thought into every little creature that He created. The people that don't believe in God just had to make up the big bang theory because they couldn't explain how all of this life just popped out of no where and why aren't the other planets full of life like earth. I just don't get how even if you believe the world just banged to existence well someone still had to make it appear, make it bang! The Lord created me you and every single living and dead creature on this planet and the universe!!! GOD IS THE ANSWER!!!

Even scientists say the earth hasn't always just been there. Looking at the planets and the universe around us we can see cycles of creation and distruction of stars, planets, etc.
I don't think it's a matter of someone snapping their fingers and then all of a sudden BOOM it was there, but I do think someone is organized the universe to be just like it is through miraculous powers, laws of nature, whatever you want to call it, it's all the same to me.
My scientific reason for this, is the principle of occums razor (two answers being equally possible the simplest is usually the right one). Think of your computer, is it simpler to think that all those pieces just happened to come together, or that someone organized all those parts to make it work just like that?
just my 2 cents

I think that a lot of people don't believe the bible's interpretation of the beginning of the world. I don't believe that someone snapped their fingers and the universe appeared. I believe that some time before our history some gaseous elements mixed with a comet or other land masses to begin the universe as we now see it. It was most likely there before we were.

Good question - intellectually weak people can't, won't or don't want to know the truth. They don't want to take the time to find out.
That often used "because" reason and the fundie cut & pastes are all they have - it really is pathetic.
Now that several more answers have been sent in I can truly say that the fundies nauseate me.
The super religious folk are turning this into another Humor Room.

simple,
because everything in the universe is finite, meaning that it has a beginning and an end. You me and every piece of matter on Earth.
if we say that something will end then undoutably it must have a beginning as well. And if we keep going far back enough eventually we should come to the beginning of beginnings.

Christians have been sold and bought into the whole faith issue. They can have no other answer for you except the "bible says so". One huge rule of the christian faith is "not question". That is the christian answer for all the thing about their bible that doesnt make sense or is scientifically challenged. I truly feel sorry for them because so much of what they think and do, they do for fear of hell. And I truly believe that is the biggest lie ever told.

what makes you think that all the matter in the universe was just right there?
even the educated non-religious avow to the fact that the big bang occurred and formed the universe. that scientific FACT gives credance to the fact that either all matter was one big ball in the void of space, or that a single atom expanded to form the matter.
regardless of science or religion, there WAS a big bang, the heavens and the earth were formed from that.
it is just that us religious types believe that somebody counted down from ten and pressed the button that set it off.

It is hard for me to take a hike in the forests and think that all this here was made by an accident. The miracle of birth just can't be because some dust electrified. The complexities of the human body are just unfathomable to not be created by some higher being.
