I found answers to your question on two vet sites. We have a rabbit that often poops near our shed and my dog will try to eat the nuggets. Our vet said it was about 90% safe and she'd start to get sick if there was a problem.

"Eating rabbit feces can be source of infection with campylobacter and probably other bacteria but this probably is a rare occurrence. Many of my patients exhibit this behavior and we do not see problems in most of them.
The same is true for eating dog feces, along with the risk of viral
illnesses and intestinal parasites. It is a good idea to occasionally check for parasites in dogs that have this habit. "

QUESTION: Dear PetShrink - I have a 10 week old cockapoo. She seems to be eating rabbit feces when we are walking her in the backyard. How dangerous (if at all is this) and do you know why she might be doing this? Thanks. - Carol

ANSWER: Dear Carol - Does she vomit after eating rabbit droppings? If not, she's probably digesting them OK. It's more unaesthetic than dangerous in most cases. The fancy name for this behavior, by the way, is coprophagia. Some dogs do it, some dogs don't. Talk about bad breath! Worse than my girlfriend Nadine's after eating one of her favorite onion and liverwurst sandwiches. If pup ever starts in on her own feces, go to the pet store and buy one of the products that is put in her food that discourages such activity.

If the bunny has parasites, the dog can pick them up. The bunnies in the woods here carry tapeworm. Everytime the dogs manage to catch a bunny, they get tapeworm.
Vet seems to think that my puppy got coccidia from eating wild rabbit poo.

Many dogs will even eat their own poo. I had one, it usually puked after. Your dog is probably missing some nutrient in her diet. Give her some better dog food, or even vitamins. Some of the cheaper dog foods do not contain the proper nutrients. I saw this on TV, but I cant remember the brands. Check the lable on your dog food for ingredients. Good luck!

it might. my dog eats goat poo probably because he thinks its cute!!! but my dog eats anything. puppys like to experiment with foods, so ask a vet. the dog should grow out of it.
