I suggest that you get a playpen or large cage. You say that the dog is about a year old.. Well I wouldn't call that a puppy. He is able to mate and I am guessing that he isn't neutered if he humps the other dogs. Keep the dog in the cage when you can not be with him. When you get him out put him on a leash so that you have control of him. Take the dog for a walk everyday to get some energy worked off of him. You have to be firm but not abusive with him. Of course the cats don't want him around if he is acting crazy. I suggest you watch the dog whisper on tv. it is a great show. Make sure the dog has plenty of exercise and read up on dog behavior. Good Luck

He is attempting to gain Alpha Male status. In other words, he wants to be top dog, your favorite. This is natural, like humans trying to fight their way up the ladder at work. Try sitting down with him on a tighly held leash. Have someone let the other animals in. Hold on tight and calm him down when he freaks out. Whenever the other animals come in, put on the leash. Let him off when he calms down, tie him up when he doesnt. Soon he will get it, but you have to do this EVERY time, until he is trained. He wants to please you. With patience, this will work. Good luck!

You need to introduce the animals ,gently, to each other. New dogs should always be kept in one room or cage until they have absorbed their new surroundings. Take a toy or blanket they have used and let the cats sniff it. Leave this item with them. Take something with their scent on it to the puppy. Let him sniff it, but if he tries to bite it, tap his nose and say "NO!".
At another time do the same with another dogs scent. Be sure to always spay or neuter your animals.
Then introduce them personally to each other one at a time in a controllable environment.good luck.

First of all,why do you need so many pets???6 cats???and about the problem...you could make his space in the house,so he won't chase your cats. It's only a puppy, when he gets older it will be all better!

Geez--Smack him for bad behavior--get a pen to put the the Terrorist Puppy in. Keep him there until he/she figures out who rules the roost Not at all fair to let the other animals be tortured because of bad behavior by one.

At a year old hes not a puppy. He needs to be neutered to start with. And he needs to be properly trained. Sometimes rehoming is the best solution if you can not or do not have the time to properly train him.
