it is a fungus. brief rinsing 2 or 3 times a day in 91% alcohol or 91% alcohol with a a little bit of hydrogen peroxide and optionally just a little white vinegar will stop it but the problem areas still have to grow out. Occasionally agressive treatment by briefly soaking your toes only in an ultrasonic cleaner with hydrogen peroxide (toes down). Also spray your shoes with just a little lysol. Better to wear shoes that breath to keep your toes from getting moist. But the shoes and your toes need to be dry before putting on your shoes and socks. Do not bathe just before dressing because your feet are still wet when you put on your shoes. Your feet need to be absolutely dry and remain that way throughtout the day. If you are wearing fully enclosed shoes you can fight nail lifting by trimming your nails to promote a center curvature: trim the middle a little shorter than the edges until the lifting is under control.

Probably nail fungus. See your doctor for a solution.
My grandmother's podiatrist told me that the OTC fungus remedies don't work for toenail fungus and a prescription is needed. I don't know the name of it or how well it works because the doctor decided it would be bad for my grandmother's overall health. She was 90 at the time. So, as long as you don't have other health problems, your doctor should be able to give you a prescription to get rid of it.

Ewww. You have the critters that run around on the tv commercial.

Seriously, it does sound like a nail fungus. Should be easy to cure once the doc prescribes the right meds.

I'd also talk w/ my pharmacist, if I were you.

Best of luck...
