Yes It is beneficial as a fresher also, only if u are from computer background.because when u apply for a job every employer want a multipurpose employee who can do testing as well as if required who can help in development also.
do it from a good institute & with full concentration.contents are winrunner,load runner,test director,jmeter,silktest etc.And salary scale is very good in this field so,best of luck

34K,,, in UK,, and about 50k in US,, go for testing tools,,,, its fun to learn and good for ur career too
