I have a Dual 4 ohm, VC, 300 watt JBL 12" sub. Is there a way to run it so it will work with my amp which puts out 600 watts rms. Also can it be ran to my sony 1100 watt SVC 12" sub?

The amp is a 2 channel 1200 watt legacy that puts out 600 watts rms per channel or 1200 wats mono,

"Not only will it throw the impedance off by using a DVC and a SVC sub together, but it is really bad to mix brands/VC configurations." is actually a false statement.

You CAN run SVC and DVC together as long as impedance's are within the amps tolerances, sub wattages aren't exceeded, and you know what your doing. There will be differences in output power, but to make that blanket statement is false.

To answer your question, it's best if the RMS watts of the amp and sub match (or are very close, the sub being a little higher in watts).

assuming u only used the JBL sub by itself, and ur amp is stable at 2 ohm mono load, then u can wire the coils in parallel (all positives together, all negatives together) then to the amp as normal.

If your amp is not stable at 2 ohm mono, then either use the sony sub by itself OR wire the coils on the JBL in series to get an 8 ohm load which ur amp will gladly play through but the amp will give u half the power (300W rms), the amp will run cooler with less distortion, and since ur JBL sub is 300 watt rms, then u got it dialed in!

When u mix subs that are way different in design i.e. SVC and DVC from different brands and have managed to get them to play together without ur amp overheating and clipping, u will get some sort of retarded bass sounds because each sub requires a different box setup. it is like wearing a sneaker on one foot and dress shoe on the other.

If that's your amps power rating at 2ohm bridged (or 2ohm, if its a mono sub amp), then yes you can run the JBL. You just have to wire it in parallel to the amp.

And yes, you can also use the Sony sub by itself.

You cannot, however, use both subs at the same time. Not only will it throw the impedance off by using a DVC and a SVC sub together, but it is really bad to mix brands/VC configurations. If you want to run multiple subs, only use multiple of the same sub.
