Hi Avich, I don't just believe, I KNOW they do because I am a Spiritualist Medium and I have had contact with them many many times. I know to some it seems unbelievable but |I have given people absolute proof that they do exist and that they have 'talked' to me. The important question here is do you believe? I think you have asked this question because you either know, or you have an open mind about it - I hope so because it can bring such comfort to people who have lost their loved ones and are now in the spirit world (or heaven as some like to call it). Knowing that our loved ones still 'live on' and are no longer suffering as they did in their earthly life gives us peace of mind.

It depends on what exactly you're talking about. In occult circles, you have to be very precise in your definition of "spirit of the dead," because if you say one thing and mean another, you can wind up in all sorts of trouble.

There are ghosts, the remnants of dead people's minds and psychic impressions left in locations, and attached to objects, usually as a result of some pressing need to resolve some unresolved issue.

And then there are "spirits of the departed", or ancestral spirits, which many indigenous cultures still venerate, including one of the most technologically sophisticated nations on Earth - Japan. China, too, has a long standing tradition of venerating the ancestors, I should say.

Ancestor worship is also supposed to be celebrated in the West, although it has been (I suspect deliberately) reduced to a parody over many years. The Western Pagan celebration of Samhain is not the "trick or treat" and pumpkins on the porch you're supposed to think it is. Samhain, pronounced "SOW - in", also known as Halloween or "All Hallows Eve", is the time of the year when the doors to the Underworld are opened, and the ancestors can not only communicate with the living - they can wander the earth and walk among their descendants, unseen but not ignored.

These aren't ghosts. They're the souls of the decedents, returned to provide guidance to the living on this sacred night. Attempting to banish spirits with a ritual intended for ghosts is regarded as very poor taste, and an indicator that the rite master is an untutored idiot.

As for personal experience, I have seen stuff beyond your experience, which any rational mind would shy away at. I'd hesitate to authoritatively pin down the origin of some of these phenomena as being "psychic energy" or "frightened spirits", because the very presence of the Numinous defies classification and rational attempts to pigeonhole them into neat categories and labels.

When I came on here, all I could hear was the thump thump thump of people pounding on bibles. I find bible thumping to be the hobby of the untutored, and frequently the inexperienced - certainly the more bigoted have often found justification for the inflicting of pain and suffering upon others from within the pages of the "good book".

All I can tell you is that I, personally, am keeping an open mind. And I'm wise enough to defer to the wisdom of those I know who have far more experience in dealing with post - life manifestations than I.

Yes I do believe that spirit can contact us through mediums or the gifted, I have had a lot of mediums telling me stuff about my uncle and my mom and there is absolutely no way on this earth anyone could have known what they told me, I am a very spiritual person and have always believed in the afterlife and spirit.

After you come to a more accurate understanding of what "spirit" actually is, and what "dead" really means, then you can only come to the conclusion that NO, unconscious beings that no longer have any spirit left in them are NOT able to contact the living. They are completely opposite states, and there is no way for them to intermingle.

No, I believe the 'spirits' are familiar spirits, evil spirits who are familiar with the departed and can give you details that will convince you they are someone you know. Trying to contact the dead is forbidden in the Bible. I have a friend who used to contact these spirits, then she became a Christian and knew immediately that she wouldn't do it any more. I used to go to mediums before I became a Christian, trying to contact my mum, but now I leave the future and the dead where they belong, in God's hands

I believe that people live beyond the grave through what is passed down from generation to generation. For me that means medals, a plaque, a letter, and a photograph of a dead soldier who had the same name as me and who died at age 20 on the 19th day of the battle of the Somme.

I visited his grave in St Ouen, and I believe that he spoke to me. I did not hear a voice, but I heard what he had to say.

you're precise. it is comparable to the psychic who tells you methods you have been a properly-properly-known guy or woman in a prior existence and not some leper who starved to demise. those frauds like Sylvia Browne and John Edward are parasites who tell their credulous sufferers precisely what they decide for to take heed to. the help presented is likewise so imprecise--"there grow to be a guy in somebody's existence...i'm seeing an M or a J. He died...it grow to be something in his chest or his head..." yet chilly examining can purely get the medium so far. The innovative modifying afterwards and the innovative remembering on the area of the gullible sufferer that helps comfortable out the tough factors. it is disheartening to work out somebody's reminiscence of a deceased kin member tarnished by utilising this manner of inexpensive scam.

As a Catholic, I do not condone necromancy in any form. However, I was approached by a guy who described a man standing beside me. His description, which was frighteningly detailed, was of my maternal grandfather who had been dead for around twenty years. It was spooky enough to make me re-consider my position on this one.
If these spirits are capable of contacting us, my advice is not to be tempted to dabble.

Depends whom you talk with. Thomas Edison who invented the light bulb, was working on a machine to talk to the dead just before he died.

The bible lists several examples of mediums and people who have died who have been communicated with.

However, and I want you to REALLY think on this- theres never been an example historically where someone has contacted a dead person and have it turn out well.

King Saul fell on his sword, knowing he was going to die in battle. Pilates wife, who had bad dreams about Jesus's death are two examples that come to mind

The spirit is the life that lives on after its separated from the mortal body. Then it is GODs will whether that life is eternal or not. maybe it is that people see spirits because GOD is not ready to judge them yet.
