Sometimes a sugar craving is caused by yeast overgrowth (sounds disgusting but it's always in your body, you just don't want too much!) Try eating a grapefruit or drinking a glass of sugar free grapefruit juice. It's a healthy way to reduce the yeast. Sugar increases it and makes you crave more sugar, and you feel lethargic.

replace sugar and chocolate with eating fruit. I know it is not as appealing as a piece of chocolate but it really helps, also frozen yogurt does the trick when you are having an ice-cream craving! it takes two weeks for your body not to crave something anymore. So if you can go two weeks without intaking high amounts of sugar (sodas, cookies, sweets, candy, chocloate, cake, ice-cream etc.) then your body won't crave it anymore. Try diet juices and soda instead of sugar ones, replace your sugar with splenda or honey etc. not only is it really healthy but you will feel great as well and you can have fun with it!

You have to ride it like a surfer does a wave. A sugar craving comes up, peaks and then subsides, just like a wave. Ideally you know at what time of the day such a wave is going to hit you, so you can prepare by (just like a surfer) swimming ahead of it. That means you grab something healthy to snack on before it starts building up. If you wait until it's really high, it will wipe you out and you'll probably end up eating an entire bag of M&M's. If you have nothing to eat around you, try to fool it by drinking lots of water. That will only works once though.

Honey has the same kind of sugars that fruit does (fructose), and I find that it does a better job of getting rid of a sugar craving than straight fruit does because it also contains glucose.
