Try either one or some of these tricks:
1. Drink a warm glass of milk before bedtime. (Milk helps you sleep. This is recommanded by most doctors).
2. If you woke up in the middle of the night, watch TV for about 5 mins and try going back to sleep. (Heard this from a radio guy who tells you how you can improve yourself. Have you heard of John Tesh?).
3. Before going to bed, look at the sky for a while. (Suppose to relax your mind. From radio too.).
4. Say prayers while lying on your bed. (Sad but true, this always put me to sleep within a minute. hahaha!!)

there are different kinds of sleeping pills... I had the same problem when I moved to a new house and the first pills I had didn't help but the second ones I tried helped a lot. Talk to a doctor. Also dedicate the last hour of your night, before you go to bed, to calming down and relaxing... don't drink anything (except maybe some warm milk, or tea), take a bath, use a heating pad on your back to relax you... do whatever makes you feel relaxed. Most of the time you just need a couple nights of good sleep to break the cycle of waking up and restlessness. Stressing out over it is only making it worse, I'm sure. If you can't solve it on your own talk to a doctor.

You have insomnia, but the question is what is causing it. You should do a little research on insomnia and see if you fit any of the causes - like exessive stress, anxiety, etc. What may help: do NOT drink caffeine within 4 hours of going to bed, get exercise during the day so your body and mind are tired at night, and try to keep a regular schedule (to bed and up at the same time every night). All of these may help, but if stress or anxiety is causing the insomnia, you may want to see a counselor. Sweet Dreams!

Get off of the pills - It sounds like they're OTC junk.
If a doctor prescribes Ambien - RUN. Don't take that stuff it's bad.
Go to a health food store and buy
Melatonin
5-htp tryptophan
L-theanine
Take 1 or 2 (at most) of those before bed.
It sounds like you have a lot on your mind.
Try a hot bath before bed with some prayer time.
One mental trick I like to use is to think of stupid stuff - you know like a cartoon (people running in mid-air - that sort of stuff). That will ease your mind into a dream state.
Another is to sleep at the foot of your bed. The disorientation can be hypnotic.
Avoid all caffeine and sugar before bed.
Get plenty of exhausting excersize but not too close to bed time.
Good luck.

You may have some type of chemical imbalance. My best friend in high school used to be tired all the time, but she actually sleep, like 10-12 hours a night, when she went to the doctor she had some type of imbalance. Maybe you should go to the doctor.

sleeping pills work differently for everyone. you need to find a dosage and brand that works for you. (im on trazadone, if i take 1, i wake up in 5 hours, if i take 2, i sleep for 12 hours and feel exhausted) talk to a doctor and find something thats right for you.
i started cutting a tablet in half, and taking 1 an a half of the trazadone, and it seems to work. you could try that with your mom's sleep pills. just take half of one.
other things you could try are Tylonal PM. milk before bed, a sleepy time tea before bed, dont eat so close to bedtime, try just laying in bed and reading around bedtime, to relax yourself. you could try meditating, too. anything that relaxes you. tv isnt always such a good idea, though.

Stress is usually the cause of not being able to sleep. Too much on your mind? You need to find something to relax you before bed...dont watch tv....read.....look through photo albums....create good dreams prior to sleep state. Do not drink any caffeine drinks at all, all day....no coke, no coffee. Avoid tea also its also a stimulant. Try a brisk walk in the evening after dinner and dont eat after 6. Good luck....

Some times that happens to me.
What you should do is drink a big glass of warm milk.drink it fast.but not too fats. then quickly try to go to sleep. Close your eyes when your in your bed. do not open your eyes .. you should start to fell sleepy. If that Doesnt work, then dont go to sleeep for one entire day. make sure its a saturday or sunday. if youre gonna do that so you wont mess up on your school work.
I hope I helped.

Got something on your mind? Try meditation...I go thru spells when I can't sleep, it seems like everything I did for the entire week or need to do keeps playing in my head. I'll take something to sleep sometimes but it's not the ideal thing to do.
