I have a cut on the inside of my lip that is just now healing after three weeks. I am concerned that there may be another issue going on. It may have even been there longer than that. I know that the mouth heals quickly so I'm wondering if anyone knows of another reason why it may have taken so long.

I am also pregnant. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. And it's not like a SORE. More like my lip split in the middle of the night from being dry then streched open.

Actually, your mouth DOSENT heal that quickly. Due to the constant stretching of the skin and the amount of bacteria, it makes it more difficult. Try a good antiseptic mouth wash, or if you can stand it, peroxide and hot water mixed, for 3-4 times a day. This should give a little extra boost in healing time!

There could be many reasons for this but if you ever get a cut in your mouth you should wash your mouth out with peroxide, for 2-5 minutes a day!!

have you had your blood glucose level checked? because diabetic often take alot longer to heal than no diabetics... if you haven't had this checked it is probably a good idea... or it could just be the fact that we use our mouths so much during the day for talking, eating and such that it was in a place making it harder to heal

Have you had your blood sugar checked? Diabetes causes slow healing.

Autoimmune disorders (ie Lupus) also cause the same.

I'd suggest a physical w/ a complete blood panel done.

Good luck!

Avoid sugar.....turn to salt it should help dry up the wound. I feel you should go to a doctor... mouth sores could be something much more serious...like diabetes or herpes. Be carefull. Dont kiss anybody.... go to the doctor..
