Thanks for posting this! The scary thing? I recognize the breeder's name from the registration papers that have come in with dozens of dogs (of a variety of breeds) relinquished to the shelter where I work.

I dont pay for any dog, they are not a commodity they are living beings, If I want a dog, I take it from someone abusing it, get a pup free from some idiot that in spite of the pet overpopulation still doesnt get thier dog fixed, I find one wandering around and the owners never claim it or I go to a shelter where someone has abandoned thier dog and pay money to cover the costs of the care provided to the dog while it was there and probably some extra to keep the shelter going. I don't think dogs are accesories and I dont buy them from people who are only looking to make money. The only pet store in my town saves stray cats and adopts them out for only the cover cost of thier care and vaccinations, deworm etc. They dont do it with dogs because of the very reason that people try to get them to sell puppymill dogs for profit, it is wrong and I will never buy a dog from a pet store because of it..... no matter how much I want to save them I refuse to support the people who use them for profit.

I can't believe the reporter was stupid enough to quote HSUS. He must not check his sources very well. The AR groups lie about most everything.

The really funny part was when he directed people to the USDA website to find a breeder. LOL! Almost ALL commercial breeders (where most pet shop pups come from) ARE USDA, The better breeders are not.

That reporter is an idiot.

Why I do not buy from a pet store, and if it is from individual, they get questioned, and looked over throughly .
