I can't understand why a priest would do something like that, just begging to disprove the Bible. Maybe he was going insane, and had a death wish. Priests are only people, and some of them have done very horrible things.

God never promised that everything we want will come true. God promised His grace to get us through the horrible things we will experience in this life, to take us into the afterlife if we believe. Earthly wishes are nothing to God, that's not what faith is supposed to be about.

Incidentally, I saw another question that you posted, and it's no longer open to answers. You wondered if you should give up on love because it has caused you so much trouble and pain. You had some very good answers on there, but one additional thing I'd like to say that isn't there. People who are unlucky in love -- especially those who end up with several marriages and divorces-- often marry "the same person" over and over again. In other words, they tend to choose the wrong kind of person for them. Study the similarities in the girls who did you wrong-- particularly the things that made you choose them and the things that made it go bad. You may find that you need to look for a girl with a totally different type of personality or background. Love could be entirely different, if you do that. But-- it doesn't hurt to give yourself time to heal first. Just learn from your own mistakes instead of assuming that every girl is going to treat you bad. There are some very nice ones out there.

Best of luck to you.

Even if you have faith, not everything "we" want comes true. Faith is not like making a wish on a shooting star or a loose tooth for the tooth fairy to come pick up. The bible tells us that when we pray we should do so in accordance "with" the will of God. Anything contrary to God's will may not be answered at all, in fact it probably wont. To perform a miracle like walking on water, though I haven't seen it done in this day and age (but I do believe that it could happen), one would HAVE to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Christ's walking on water was God's way of showing the apostles Christ's true sovereignty so that they may truely believe in him. From what the bible tells us, we know that Jesus was filled with the Spirit of God. One MUST test the spirits. It doesn't sound like that pastor in your article tested the spirits at all. The bible tells us that Satan and his demons masquerade as "angels of light". Perhaps the entity that pastor heard from was such an impostor, it most certainly wasn't God because God wouldn't lead some one to his death like that. It's a shame that man had to loose his life.

No dear. It is not like that. Faith will lead us to practise what have been taught in religion or other moral disciplines, which basically is telling us to do good, avoid evil and purify the mind.
Doing good deeds and showing compassion and kindness to others we generate Causes and purity of mind. These causes themselve will sooner or later manifest into Effects or results. So what we do will also be done unto us, in that sense. Karma is the word used for this principle of Cause and Effect.
The blessings and desired for things we want comes out of these actions and causes. Faith is the initial step that lead us to practices of goodness. Intangible desires, such as walking on water, will not happen until one truly realized teh ultimate in mind purity. That when you can walk on water, fly through the air and walk through walls and mountains to reappear the other side.
Take care.

I have no theory. assume a pool table: a very smart mathematician/physicist might desire to probable calculate the genuine speed/unbalanced tension/momentum etc required to pot each and each ball. even nonetheless somebody desires to HIT THE CUE BALL. the assumption of this universe coming from no longer something is absurd - no longer something can come from no longer something. there is no longer one occasion. technological awareness is of a similar opinion with this interior the very basic "Conservation of capability" regulation. Admitted, this begs the question - 'If God created the universe, who created God?' Which certainly is a ideas boggler. the only clarification is that God isn't of this universe. we live in a universe constrained by ability of area and time. Time is an element of this universe, no longer outwith it. Our minds won't be able to understand this and extra so at the instant are not meant to appreciate this. A God residing outdoors of our universe would not conform to its rules i.e. time and as a effect can supply the respond that God became continuously there.

I think someone has mislead you if you believe that all you need is faith and everything you want comes true. God answers prayers in His time and according to His plan. One will never know what this poor minister was thinking as he headed onto the water. Did he hear from God; doubtful. God will not direct you to do something without providing you the tools, means, intelligence to accomplish the task.

First, there is no guarantee that faith will get you what you want. Faith in God gets you what God wants. God didn't want that priest to walk on water.

Having faith means believing that a) God is real, and b) God is sovereign.

God is not bound by the laws of physics. That's where miracles come from. But, God does what he wants. He is ALSO not bound by our demands. Sometimes, God works THROUGH people to perform miracles. But it won't happen if you don't believe he can.

No. Even if I had faith in anything, this wouldn't be true. You are faithful because that is your preference and spirituality. You cannot make demands from God or make deals with God either.

The link you gave is a priest's complete idiocy / extreme devotion to the point where he goes crazy.

We can have all the faith in the world and if God doesn't see it fit for our lives then it don't happen. I can have alot of faith that God is going to give me something but if its not His will then it won't happen. That's OK with me though because I only want His will for my life. If that story was true why didn't he stop when he realized he was getting neck deep and he was under water? God also gave us common since. God Bless!!

I'm not quite sure where you got this idea...not any Bible that I have read says that it is just faith. There is a fatal flaw in this thinking that God is like .a genie.. all you need is faith and all our dreams will come true( I'm sure the priest understands this now.)There is the little matter of the will of God(ie does it fit into God's plans?) ,and common sense.

The faith you need is in yourself. As far as everything you want coming true, well that is just not going to happen. You have to have faith in yourself, and determination, because life will knock you down over and over again, you must have the strength, determination and the belief in yourself to get back up and continue striving to reach your goals.
