I don't know, but they should be tortured and killed for it!

Oh boy, this question. I get PISSED when I think of it, especially when I lost a dog that I loved more than most humans I know.
Dogs are God's little gifts and I would do anything to have mine back.
My sister has two dogs and I dont think that she treats them as well as I would expect, especially coming from a home where our dog was loved and taken better care of.
The truth is that most people who abuse their animals are sick, miserable, and pathetic. Why take out your anger on a little animal who needs YOU to survive. It breaks my heart to think about it!! Maybe if the penalties for those who mistreat their animals were more severe, there wouldn't be so much senseless abuse.
If you have a pet, ask yourlself if you are a good guardian - chances are you could be better. They deserve it, those little eyes can melt a soul!!

Great question!!! I'd love to hear someone who does that try to justify their actions. I work at a vet clinic and I can tell you that out of the hundreds of clients we have there are only about 20% that take proper care of their pets. I don't understand why people let their animal suffer for days (or sometimes weeks!!) before thinking to take them to the vet. How long would they suffer vomiting after every meal or an infected wound that is abscessed before going to the doctor? I seriously doubt more than a day so why would an animal's care & comfort being any less important?!

The same reason why people have kids and then neglect them. They don't start out thinking to neglect the animal, but when the going gets tough the peopel just don't care.

I think that at least a hundred times a week - and I still don't know the answer for it. It's horrible. I think they get them because they feel that they have to show off, or something; that they have to beat on an animal to show that they are superior - it's disgusting. I think that there should be more protective laws placed on animals to prevent their destruction - I don't think it's fair...even if it is somebody else's animal. They take children away from bad parents, they should also be able to take animals from bad owners - that's somewhat into effect today, but I don't think it's doing enough.

Small minded ignorant people get animals to abuse so that they can feel bigger and powerful over something. They usually don't have control of much in their lives so they take control of a helpless animal.

I don't know. I'm still trying to figure out why people get dogs and then stick them outside 24/7. What's the point of that? Why get a dog if you don't actually want to live with a dog? It just seems like that would be a really loud, expensive, smelly lawn ornament. What's wrong with getting one of those plastic lawn geese instead?

it's a control thing. they get it thinking, oh, this would be kind of cool. something to play with and have fun. when the dogs or cats misbehave, they flail wildly trying to gain control over an animal that is simply doing what it normally does. eventually it gets to the point where the animals ceases becoming itself and only obeys out of fear.

Most people don't think about the long haul. Most dogs will liveto be 20+ years. Wish I could do to people what they do to poor helpless animals.

They don't think it through about how much care and love an animal needs when they get one....Then, they scimp on the job, because truthfully they are lazy and they don't have love to give.

Because they want to bully something around that won't neccesarily fight back. It should be punishable the same way as abuse of humans.
