I am trying to find a photograph taken by a woman in the late 1990's.. I saw it first in 1999. It is a black and white photo of a black man intertwined with a white woman. I have search a number of sites and am having a horrid time even finding something remotely the same. Any suggestions?

You might want to try poster sites, as they often carry famous photos and sell them as prints.

There are a number of photographers who have done studies of contrasting skin colors. Imogen Cunningham, Daido Moriyama are some famous photographers who have experimented with these subject matter but I am guessing that you are probably thinking of Robert Mapplethorpe. here is a link to one of the images from his series
