Bertrand Russell, a prominent atheist, summed it up nicely.
The thing is, when he did so, he sort of made God make sense.
He said "Unless you assume a God, the question of life's purpose is meaningless."

[Bertrand] Russell notes that there are those who have an emotional objection to a universe in which the course of natural laws leads to a cold, dead and lifeless end. He regards those who find this thought depressing as self-deceived, saying, “They are worried about something much more mundane, or it may merely be a bad digestion; nobody is really seriously rendered unhappy by the thought of something that is going to happen in this world millions and millions of years hence.”(12) However, if there truly is no Designer, there is no purpose for life; no meaning whatsoever. This puts our very ability to rationalize at stake. If all that exists is a haphazard jumble of clutter in the universe, then doesn’t that include us as well? How can there be a standard of reality or truth at all if our very laws of logic are held in question? How can you discern the meaning of any of the words I am using now? To pursue this concept to its end is to enter the realm of absolute lunacy. Therefore we must assume that because there is at least some standard of predictability and reliability in our universe, some meaning has been established. There is a Cause, a purpose that transcends us, which has set the standard for truth, and it may even be accurately stated, that this Cause is the standard itself. It follows that if truth is in fact objective, then there exist a right and a wrong way of perceiving it and reacting to it. (*)
Read the manual, the Bible, the Master Plan in print, and find hope in Jesus, "the way, the truth and the life..." (**) God bless!

There is no master plan, but that doesn't mean life's devoid of hope. It just means we need to make our hopes happen in the here and now and not wait on a god that doesn't exist.

I believe there is a master plan.
But to answer your question, yes If there is no master plan, life is, in fact, devoid of hope, because hope is a feeling that is directly connected with something that you may have strong feelings of accomplishing or having, experiencing, awaiting, etc. Synonyms of that word are : faith, aspire, dream, wish, want, believe, trust, long for, and feel confident of. To me, without the belief in something higher, then those feelings really have no basis. I feel that those feelings are connected to a higher being, or higher power that you put your trust or confidence in. What would an evolutionist need to hope for? (Really, I'm honestly asking).
Hoping involves putting trust in something higher than us (be it a being, a power, a law, whatever) that has more control over a situration than we do. It involves humility, that is, putting yourself low so that you can benefit from what is higher.
I hope you understand what I mean, I'm trying to express what I'm thinking into words, lol.

Isaiah 45:18 For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens. He the true God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it. He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited.
Psalms 37:29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they wil reside forever upon it.
Daniel 2:44 In the days of those kings, the god of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite.

i believe that there's no master plan .and human life may be end tomorrow ,who knows ? and who cares?
but at least i have my own hopes, u do too,all people have their own hopes . so we have just to work hard to get what we dream of .i guess this is true thing to do in ur life .
and believe me ,when u put a main goal to ur life and try to make it come true ,and when u get good results u'll never ask a guestion such this .
i guess the key is challenge , just challenge urself to do something and see how much the life is great . so i mean that we do the hope of the life .

Why do you feel life is devoid of Hope???
Personally I believe that there is more to life than the one we are living here on Earth. God our creator believes that too. In -- Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.-- (Bible NIV)
Yeah I have bad days too and things don't always go my way but is nice to know that the Lord himself has a plan for me and knows the future and that everything will work itself our if we let Him guide us. <><

Nope. As long as we each have our own individual plan, and live in a way that's right for us, hope and love are everywhere.
In fact, I feel the master plan that's supposed to be for everyone, regardless of our uniqueness, may dash some hopes and dreams. It certainly limits our options, at the very least.

The good thing is, there IS a master plan, so we don't even need to ask this question. Yes, I beleive life would be devoid of all hope if there was no master plan. But God has created this world for a reason, and each of us for a reason. I have a purpose, just as you do too. In Him do we have our hope and our plan and our purpose, our reason to live.

You are free to hope all you like until you die. But please, don't turn hope into obsessive religious faith or you will become mentally ill. If you are religious how do you know that God really cares about human beings?
Imagine this. You’ve just bought a new home which you furnish with all sorts of nice fittings and fixtures, then prepare the grounds and garden. You plant a wide range of trees, shrubs, flowers, plants and vegetables. You clip and prune as time goes on, spray the weeds, and generally keep your property in good shape.
Many years pass and your gardens are flourishing, not a weed to be seen anywhere. You head off on holiday, a weed pops up and bugs start to crawl all over it. Not to worry, when you return home you spray the gardens, killing all the bugs and weeds. Everything is back to normal.
Now consider the universe. After billions of years a little planet (weed) called Earth pops up and it’s crawling with bugs called humans. Do you really think the gardener (or creator) really cares about the bugs and weeds? Do you think the gardener cares if he destroys you? Do you think that the bugs (humans) on the weed (Earth) have any idea what’s going on in the rest of garden (universe)? What happens to all human beings is just the same as what happens to all bugs and weeds – universal compost.
