Or the new, wonderful spot-on treatment REVOLUTION. availble at most vet's clinics.

assuming it is the common mange, caught from another animal..the treatment for the hereditary mange is different.

Do you mean "mange"? There is no quick cure for that.

There are two common types of mange: Sarcoptic (which is transmittable to humans) and Demodectic (which is not transmittable), but only your vet can determine which of the types of mange it is. He/she will do a "skin scrape" test, look at the scraping under a microscope and try to find what kind of mange mite is affecting your dog.

Your vet can then give you a medication that will help kill the mites and boost your dog's immune system (so it can better control the mites in the future).

When we have dogs in the shelter with mange, we supplement the vet's medication with things like Goodwinol Ointment and LoShed spray...

But all of the treatments take anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks to clear up, depending on the initial severity of the condition.

The only way to get rid of mange is with medication and, depending on the type of mange, medicated dips. There isn't anything you can do at home, or fast, to cure it. Most dogs have to have at least 4 dips spaced 2 weeks apart to kill mange. You should take your dog in to the vet as soon as possible.
