Why are farts unnaceptable?

Why does this society does not permit a person to fart / burp in a classroom, office, etc. and you have to hold it up until you explode inside.

Unacceptable to who? Sure they may smell, but I don't think people should be forced to hold in any natural body functions! There are some people I know who act as if they've never farted / burped out in public in their entire life! Listen, there are just some times where you can't find a suitable place to let one go. I say do it where you wanna and everyone else can hold their breath / breathe through their mouth if it's that much of a problem.

And in some countries it is considered polite to burp after a meal.

In the Victorian era women in corsets would sometimes have "the vapors" and retire to their rooms. Probably because wearing tight garments causes gas in the first place! Those women had to be horribly uncomfortable with their stomachs all bound up like that. I'm sure it wasn't a matter of smell considering the layers of corsets and skirts they wore. But I suspect that flatulence got a bad name from this era. I bet they blamed it on the smell when actually those women were probably in so much pain that releasing the gas was a huge relief.

The word "fart" is much more unacceptable as it sounds coarse and too direct. Perhaps it it the pronunciation of the word "fart" itself, as it is a small, forced and explosive word. While having "gas" or even flatulence produces a more subtle "s" sound, implying the gas leaks out on it's own accord.

The explosion of a "fart" in a formal situation is funny because it is the wrong place to "toot" and people laugh because it is so out of place. Farter's get to feel the joys of humiliation because their anal sphincter could not hold the pressure back. Such is the error of flatulence.

Today, we have products that help some people produce less gas, such as: Beano or Gas X. People are expected to learn what foods their body will give them gas and to avoid them. We live in a flatulence intolerant society, in general.

However, the males of the species tend to delight in sharing all the characteristics of their "farts." From the quality of the sound to the intensity of the stench and the indication of "wet" and "dry." I don't know if Homo Sapien males will ever Evolve past that particular quirk. Frankly, I'd rather loosen my binding clothing and retire to my room for some candle-lighting and reading.

Heres 3 good short n sweet reasons 4 ya:

1. Generally smelly (not good in a closed or outdoor environment)
2. Sounds can b really gross, distracting, loud, etc
3. Cause others to vomit

i would imagine that despite the really funny sound they make some peoples flatulence just doesn't go well with the nose.
you shouldn't hold it in but find a satisfacory place to let it out...if your in an elevator or class that you cannot leave...let it out...
so what about the dirty looks..if it was a good one you may even get a chuckle or two.

people/society think that once you grow up you should be able to control your body and bodily functions. it's so rude to do those things but you can do them without the noise usually and never be noticed except for the SBD's. Heh!

They can't stand the smell of hydrogen sulfide gas and they don't want a fire to start since large amounts of methane and hydrogen can be flammable.

They tell my brother the same thing I have no idea why but I guess it makes everybody giggle so the dont whant that
