Try using Omega6 in the dogs food to balance out her nutrient system. I've included a site here that has some tips on how to deal with a dog with dry skin if you would like to take a look at it.

That's fine, as long as it is not every day and in moderation. Otherwise, it will act as a laxative. The best kind is fish oil as it contains a lot of Omegas which promote skin and coat health. You can also feed eggs once in a while (at most one or two egg yolks, not whites, once a week) which do wonders for skin and coat. Something random I discovered and was okayed by my vet is the use of a product called Ferretone. I have ferrets, and discovered my dog absolutely loved the taste of this stuff. It's designed specifically to make ferrets' coats and skin healthier, and as they are carnivores, it's safe for dogs, too. It's best to buy the liquid in a bottle and drizzle over food, than to buy the treats, as those have corn syrup in them. Just something I thought I'd suggest, but be sure to ask your vet about anything like that before trying it. Make sure you're brushing, trimming, and bathing your dog appropriately. If there are any rashes, lots of dandruff, or other irritations going on, take your dog to the vet, as it may have allergies. Food allergies to grains and chicken are very common. It's worth mentioning that Nutro is a good food, but there are better brands out there such as Wellness, Natural Balance, and Fromm which may make your dog's coat look a lot better than Nutro. Nutro also has a lot of filler--not as much as say Pedigree--but there are corn products, and that's always a no-no. On the adult lamb and rice, for example, the first ingredient is lamb meal followed by three or four rice products and/or other carbs (peas I think?). This means that food is NOT mainly meat-based, and dog food should always have meat listed in the first 2 (preferably 3 or 4) ingredients... Sorry for the really long answer, lol. Hope this answered your question though.

Dog Shampoo has chemicals that help flea protection, ect. This gives quite a few dogs dry, flaky skin. Some dog owners feed their dogs different things to help the skin moisture levels. I recommend using baby magic shampoo. Its very gentle and tested much more than dog shampoo. Its easier to change shampoos than to chase your dog around with eggs, mayo, fish oils, etc.

Try giving some nutritional supplements. Sometimes lack of vitamins causes the problems and there's some kind of combination for vitamins not just one.
I'm using this one right here -->

I tried their product first and yes it does help my dogs. They've become more active. The skin and hair looks really healthy.

I would massage the dog's skin and hair with some oil. I did that before with both one of my dogs and my donkey. Both of them recovered and loved their daily massage.Do not shampoo the dog's hair for a while .

You might find a more "all natural or organic" dog food, without all the junk it in, that might help. One of our dogs has dry skin, what has helped for us, was changing the dog food, and supplement for dry coat/skin. And choosing milder shampoo for dogs with dry skin, if all else fails, take her to the vet. Good Luck.

What you do is, Get 2 eggs, 1 pound of hamburger, 2 cups of rice,, Make the rice, with no butter or salt, just rice and water, simmer the hamburger (Back up the meat, Make the hamburger like Hamburger helper but without the other stuff) Drain all the fat off, Rinse off the oil on the meat, scramble the eggs mix the items together, give it to the Little one every 2 weeks, give it about 2 months,

If you shampoo her too often, that could give her dry skin.
You might try a nice olive oil rub a few times to see if that helps.

Yep! My dog has the same problem... next time you go and by some dogfood, ask the clerk what would be best for dry skin. I changed my dogs food and it helped a lot.
