IT depends on how long your going to be away, but i would never leave my oven on while I'm away because something could happen to you while your away and your oven could catch fire and then your house ,,,NO its not a good idea

I have for very short periods of time. I personally get a little nervous about, just never know, could just plain out forget and take too much time or (knock on wood) get in an accident.
