She even lies in wait under the bottom stair so she can attack her feet when she gets to the bottom. Another example is when she sat at the dining table she'll try to scratch her feet. I have another (older) daughter whom she doesnt attack. Any ideas why? I have asked our local vet who hasnt a clue! Thanks

It's possible the kitty feels threatened by your daughter. She knows your daughter takes away your focus on her and that's why she reacts that way...

Probably because your daughter gets more attention than the cat which should be the right thing-jealousy. Anyway, cats are evil. They are not affectionate at all and they are good for nothing. I can say this from experience. I grew up with cats for a good portion of my life. Then, the family decided to get a dog. Well, from then on the cat I had received much less attention as the dog is more affectionate and friendly. My cat had died and nobody even noticed, except mom and dad. After like 3 weeks after the cat's death, sister asked where is Boo?
You can't go wrong with a properly trained dog. Just infinetely more friendly and lovable than a boring and scary cat that just sleeps all day and is scared of people.

Probably just playing. Your daughter is small. When she sits at the table I'm sure her feet are moving. I had a cat when I was younger that did the same thing. Waited under the stairs or under the bed. He would attack and then take off. He grew out of it.....

Your cat is playing with your daughter, not attacking her. Does she growl or hiss right before
she charges? Does your daughter swing her feet while sitting at a table? That motion will lure a cat. My kitty will lurk behind the trash can in the kitchen and pounce on whoever walks by. If your cat is growling, hissing, spitting at your child then you
might want to reconsider keeping her. Some cats simply to not care for young children. This may be the case. Good luck!

Your cat is scared of the daughter. It does happen for no obvious reason. The solution is to gain her trust. Get the daughter to feed the cat, she would put the food before the cat while the cat is looking . Repeat this action while the cat is present. little by little the cat will realize that there is no harm of the daughter.

Is you daughter fast on her feet..( something for the cat to chase ). The cat wants to play.. it most likely sees your youngest as the nearest play mate.
Get you daughter to play with cat toys with the cat... This will draw attention away from the wee lasses feet..
It wants her attention. Hope your daughter isn't afraid of the cat they could become fast friends.
Have you tried your cat on Cat-nip... Try rubbing it on a toy for it to play with.. then the toy will be more interesting than the feet..
I've a blind cat that does the same thing with me.. but its just a game. !
Good luck hope it helped

try using (this will sound insane) astrology. if people clash at other people because of their starcharts not being compatible -- guess what it works the same here -- we have a pisces cat that is loving, however she can be silent and violent. another we have is a leo, she is a great gopher catcher.

go figure check it out and maybe try to keep your daughter away from your cat for a while or vice versa.

Jealousy basically. You didn't say how old your youngest daughter is, but if you had the cat before your daughters, perhaps moggy thinks that you're neglecting her (even if you aren't) Best to give her a lot of attention and smack her (gently) when she next attacks your daughter.

Why are you even bothering to ask this question? Put that damn cat out of your house! Is the cat more important then your child? When you read this, I want you to immediately raise your butt up and put that damn cat out!

I am so tired of hearing in the new about animals doing harm to people. Especially children! I wish I knew where you lived. I would call a cop and do a citizen's arrest for child endangerment.

How does your daughter treat the cat when she thinks no one is watching? That's one possibility.

The cat may just not like something about your daughter.

The cat may just want your daughter to play, and doesn't know what is too rough.
