i've never heard that caffeine will have an effect on your growth spurt, but caffeine does interfere with your body's ability to absorb calcium.

No, this is an old wives tale.

Giving excessive drinks of these nature to a child however can lead to malnurishment, hypoglycemia, and diabetes though.

I have never read any concrete proof of that, it is possible that it can retard the growth of a fetus though.
