If you just need to see Excel spreadsheet, Microsoft has a free viewer. You can have a look at:

If you need a free tool that you can use for Excel (and even Word) there is a free 'open source' version available at

You can get Open Office's Calc for _free_ - it is virtually the same. and can load and save Excel files.

This will provide you with free software similar to excel. You will be able to edit any excel document and save as an excel document.
