Pirates are a good theme for little boys. You can make a pirate hat and an eyepatch for each child really easily out of black card, white paint, and elastic.

Food-wise, orange jellyboats (half an orange scooped out, with some jelly made in it, a straw poked in and a paper sail stuck to the straw.) A pirate cake should be easy enough to get hold of, or if not it shouldn't be too hard to make one that looks like a chest and decorated with lots of mini sweets for gold and jewels. Gold coins are good, and also good for party bags. Anything ball-shaped will do as cannonballs, and fish-shaped sandwiches would be good too.

For decoration, you can cut out things like fish shapes, bones and treasure chests, hang a big black flag painted with a skull and crossbones, and for the table and to finish off, Tescos currently have pirate-themed party bags and tablecloths for children's parties.

A boincy castle under 5s only on it so no one gets squashed. Short attention span at that age so lots of short activities. I have a girl but i think boys that age like thomas tank or bob the builder for a theme. Also try joining a site called NETMUMS they are great and have a big section on birthday partys

My nephew just turned two and my sister-in-law had a Range Theme party wit cowboy hats, streamers, she bought a cowboy and cowgirl kit at the store that consisted of a cowboy/girl vest wiith the deputy badge, a gun and hollister, and a cowboy hat and to top it all off rented a pony, and the lil kids under 12 went on a pony ride!! It was a very cute party, and went well!!

a trip to the zoo or a wildlife park- always a success with my little boy. a bouncy castle shaped like a truck or train? a pirates party (hunt for treasure, fancy dress etc)? if there are any indoor childrens play centres near you, they usually do great childrens or toddlers parties. the one near me does parties for toddlers during termtime so that there are no big children around the tots during parties, i dont know if thats an idea? i hope this helps.

What are his interests? Does he like Spongebob Squarepants? Spiderman, the Hulk, Bug's and Daffy? Find what he likes and base your theme on that. If he isn't really into much, base it on his favorite type of toy. If he likes Motorcycles, then get him some toy motorcycles on the cake.
