Yes, it can be the food. Just like people, cats digestive systems can be sensitive to different things. Just because one cat can eat a certain food with no problem does not mean another can will be able to. I work at a vet clinic and we have a lot of people state the same concerns you did about Hill's Science Diet food. That one I experienced myself with my last kitten. It gave her diarrhea and made her gassy so I switched her to Iams and she was perfectly normal. Try a different brand to see if that helps, but don't change the food suddenly. Start out by mixing the old & new food and over the course of a week or two gradually add less and less of the old food until it's only the new stuff your little guy is eating. You may also want to try a food with a different protien source since cat's can be sensitive to beef or chicken. Try a lamb & rice diet and see if that helps. Oh, one more thing...take your kitten back for a recheck exam to make sure the coccidia is really gone. Sometimes kittens need more than one treatment to totally be rid of it. The vet I work for always rechecks kittens 3-4 weeks after the initial diagnosis to be sure the medication worked. Good luck!

Most definitely. He is full of indigestible corn.
Get his food at a small owner-operated pet store. They really know their animal nutrition and carry foods that use rice, pea, oats for fillers. These are better digested by the kitten and the bulk of the food will high quality protein that the kitten will digest and utilize for nutrition and growth. It won't all be coming out the other end!

Yuck! Purina! I don't blame your cat! New foods have a tendency to create gas and runny stools to begin with anyway. The best thing you can do for your kitty is to give him truly nutritious food. Go to Petsmart or Pet co and pick up a premium brand--Science Diet or NutroMax. It costs a little more, but your kitty will be healthier and happier.

I would contact your vet to set up an appointment for a check-up. Your kitten may have problems with their digestive system, which could be dangerous.

It's probably the food - use a good quality food to help with the odor.
