Don't let him run loose. Put him on a leash or fence him in.

There is an old remedy my mom used with her Collie when she was a kid...... Depending on the size of you dog, get a 2x4 board.
put 2 holes in the middle of the board. put a rope through the holes so both ends stick out 1 side. tie the board on the dogs neck like a collar. When ever the dog chases he falls on his face, eventually he will stop the behavior. Sounds a little nasty, but it wont hurt the dog it just trips him and discouraged this dangerous behavior, chasers are hard to stop. they will chase a car even if they are on a leash, it like they are possessed!

Walk the dog often on a leash with a training collar (can be purchased at your local pet store) walk him/her close to traffic but hold the leash about 2 feet from the collar. When he acts like he is going to run for a vehicle pull gently but firmly on the leash and scold him/her. As the dog begins to walk with out going for the vehicles you can begin rewarding the good behavior.

You will have to work with the dog for a few weeks but then you should start seeing improvement.

Good luck and stick with it he can be un taught the bad behavior.

First of all, why is the dog loose???? One of these days it will get run over by one of these cars. Please keep your dog in a fenced yard, on a leash, or in the house.

Give the dog to a shelter since someone who doesn't know enough to keep a dog in a fenced yard doesn't know enough to look after him.

Do what the law requires of you: keep him in a fenced yard or on a leash in all other areas.

Get a fence as soon as possible. He will get killed if you don't.
