This past week or so I have been asking about Jesus and the things he helped create. A lot of people have shot me down with such answers as "Jesus didn't create anything, God did" and God is the almighty creator not Jesus. But when I read Genesis 1:26 God states "Let US make man in OUR image" Surely he/she is refering to Jesus helping him/her? Which means Jesus did in fact help make creation? Or was God talking to himself/herself?........

I can't believe the state of our society. How did it come to this? Where are all these clueless questions coming from? I'm sorry if you feel insulted, but I truly feel sorry for you.

John 1:1 In the beginning the Word (JESUS) was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was god. This one was in the beginning with God. ALL Things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence. What has come into existence by him was LIFE, and The LIFE (Jesus), was the light of men.

Colossians 1:13-17 He delivered us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love, ..He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;because by means of him all other things have been created IN the heavens and UPON the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him.

Proverbs 8:22-31 YHWH/Jehovah himself produced *me* (Jesus) as the beginning of his way, the earliest achievements of long ago. From time indefinite I was installed, from times earlier than the earth. When there was no watery deep I was brought forth as with LABOR PAINS...when he decreed the foundations of the earth, THEN I came to be beside him as a master worker..I being glad before him all the time, being glad at his productive earth, and the things I was fond of were with the sons of men.

Isaiah 44:24b "I Jehovah,, am doing everything, stretching out the heavens, BY MYSELF,laying out the earth. Who was with me?

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God CREATED the heavens and the Earth.

All these scriptures seem to indicate, that God *created* the heavens and the earth alone, or by himself. Then Jesus/the Word was the first person, God created, and together they created life in heaven, and made the earth habitable, with life.

Isaiah 9:6 ..calls Jesus 'Mighty God,' so while the Father is GOD, another definition for god is mighty ruler, which must apply in this case, as Jesus is not the Father, and Jesus worships the Father; Revelation 3:12.

John 17:5 So, now you, Father, glorify me alongside yourself with the glory that I had alongside you before the world was.

Yes, The Father said to Jesus, "Let us make man in our image."

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that had been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. John 1:1-5 (NIV)

God made all things through Jesus. People who say Jesus had nothing to do with it or that Jesus didn't exist until later need to actually read their Bibles. People who say Jesus did every thing himself also need to read their bibles.
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
that right there shows us...
the Word (Jesus) was WITH God and the Word WAS God
it's the Principal of the trinity, which most Christians even have a hard time with.
As to "Jesus didn't come until later"
God SENT his son
he did not CREATE his son in Mary's womb
also the Holy Spirit was SENT
both had to exist before they could be sent

Take a look at John 1:1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."

If you read on, John the Baptist came to testify to the "light" that "through him all men might believe." It is clear from the context of the passage that the "Word" and the "light" is Jesus. Read the passage again and substitute "Jesus" for "Word" and it becomes clear that Jesus was indeed involved in creation.

Flip over to Colossians 1:15-16: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Read on and the passage clearly states that Paul is talking about Jesus, who is the "head of the body."

It is not wrong to praise Jesus as "Creator."

Let's get this straight, Jesus is God, very God, from the beginning through eternity. God in the Old Testament, especially Genesis, is called "Elohim", a plural form of God. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were all involved in creation. Jesus was as much the creator as was the Father and the Holy Spirit.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

There is a bit of a mystery there, how can the 'word' be both God, and with God?

John 1 beginning at 1. Now we know the "word" who is a "him" made everything. Who is the 'word'?

John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Who could that word be, what was 'made of flesh, dwelt among us, the begotten (Son) of the father?

Hmmmm, John? Nope, because he says he isn't the one. Some Angel? Nope, angels are created beings, not begotten...

Jesus maybe? If so, who created everything. Is God a proper answer? Jesus said he and the father were one, so technically yes, but taking the gospel of John in context, he's talking about Jesus.

I am continually bewildered by some of the answers I read from you folks. The Lord straightened out this question in the first verse of John.
Let me reitterate:
1 In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD WAS WITH GOD and the WORD WAS GOD.
2 The same was in the beginning with GOD.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Now remember also that Jesus said, "I AM the way, the truth, and the light." No one comes to the Father except through me."
Is it making more sense now?
Keep searching...that is good.

Great question! The answer kind of depends on what religion you're talking to. Most Christians (or believers of the Trinity) will say God and Jesus are of the same essense. So since they are actually one and the same, Jesus DID create all things. After all, Jesus is God.
I'm actually LDS, and I believe God and Jesus are seperate, both holding the title God. And I believe Jesus created all things in the universe.

Jesus Christ plays three primary roles in God's plan; he is the Creator, the Savior, and the Judge.

As to the exact logistics of it all, no one knows. Did he create the sun, or did he delegate that out to someone else? Did he create the ocean and someone else fill it? Did he use union labor? Did he outsource any of it? I don't know that we'll ever extract that level of specificity from the Bible.

But I see him acting sort of like a foreman. God the Father is in command, but Jesus also has a copy of the plans and he is the one who organizes and sees to the work actually being done.

The best person to ask about this is, believe it or not, a Jehovah's witness. They told me once, and I've forgotten (not quite effective! lol)..

okay.. Jesus is the Word of God. In the New Testament, it says through Him (Jesus) all the worlds were made and without Him did nothing exist.

As soon as God spoke, that word was Jesus.

I'm sorry, I'm really rusty-- but great question, I need to research this.

Its too late....if youre trying to become a beleiver, youre stuck with either confusion or simply letting go and not questioning things like this that do not make any sense at all....

Look at the above responses... God, Jesus and the Holy Spurt created everything..... thats interesting, because others have told me that Jesus was both "wholy man and wholy God." If Jesus was wholy man, then how could he have been around to create the universe and MAN prior to MANS EXISTENCE??? This is a physical impossiblity.
So, they will say that God is magical and can do anything! He can even exist prior to his creation! What a load....
