You should definetly get a BOXER. I've grown up all types of dogs my entire life:
German Sheeparards
Irish Sutters
Collies
Labs
Rottwiellers
Golden Retrievers
and BOXERS

I would definetley get another Boxer if I could. I have 2 already but we just had another baby. 2 BOXERS and a 7 month old baby boy. The BOXERS are awsome with him they are gentle as can be with him and they listen very well. They love to play are VERY ENERGETIC. They love to go on walks and run loose at the ball park. They love other people and other animals no matter what size they are. They are very gentle and can be very great guard dogs as well. They look tough and mean but very reserved. They almost never growl or bark at the door unless I'm not home. I guess they think they are the protectors when I'm not home with my wife. They are very easy to train and like it to. They learn really quick.

I will never buy a differn't kind of breed of a dog. The BOXER is the best.

Boxer all the way :size-medium to large , Ages for- 1-200 , they are very playful and entergetic they love to walk and bark at intruders or strangers they don't know.I was raised up with boxers since i was born until present day and i will still have boxers until i die.Everybody who buys from us when we have puppies call us and say they don't ever want to get a different dog only Boxers.Get a puppy or a 1 yr old if you get one though. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Go to the humane society or shelter. Those dogs are looking for a loving family and need the chance to have a great life. The staff at the shelter will help you pick out one. Usually a mutt will not have the health problems that a pure bread dog will have That is there job.

There is only two dogs. Get a labrador or a german shepherd. If possible get a thoroughbred puppy. With a thoroughbred you can , by looking at the parent, see what kind of temperament it will have. A puppy can be reared to your hand. Let the kids spend as much as possible time with the dog. Furthermore I would suggest taking the dog for training at a professional club.eg:German Sheppard federation. Do not go to a dog shelter. You will inherit someone else's problems.

Good luck.

We did a lot of research and ended up getting a goldendoodle. I couldn't have asked for a better dog. Shes crazy smart, cute ,loves everyone, and will still bark if someone knocks at the door. They are a golden retriever bred with a standard poodle(the large size poodle). They are great for people with allergies since they shed little or not at all. We have 2 cats that are her best buddies. Check this site out if your interested.

First, do some research on various types of dogs. Look at temperament (for you, should be mild-mannered esp. with kids). Think about how much space the dog will require (energetic dogs need room to roam!). Look honestly at what kinds of dogs match your lifestyle (will you be walking him/her regularly or do you want a more low-maintenance pooch?). And, of course, think about what kinds of dogs make you and your family happiest.

Then go to your local shelter or animal rescue organization and start looking. Give yourself plenty of time to find just the right one. Mixed breed dogs tend to be healthier and lead longer lives than so many of the dogs from puppy mills, where they can be inbred and develop a host of problems like hip dysplasia early in their lives. When you get a shelter or rescue dog, you'll be saving him or her from some terrible fate, and you'll always be a hero in their eyes!

A Lab, Golden Retriever, Flat-coated Retriever....A mutt would be the best though! Call your local animal shelter and ask what puppies they have..Choose one that is a mix of large breeds if you want a bigger dog..I grew up with a Lab/hound mix-the best dog in the world still! He would let us kids do anything to him or with him and never once growled or bit. He was $3 at a shelter..the best $3 we ever spent! He is now 14 yrs and is slowing down..still my boy though!

Stop by your local animal shelter and meet some of the dogs there, I'm sure you'll find a great companion for walks and the children. It may or may not be a pure bred dog, but personality is what counts and you'll be giving a homeless animal a second chance.
