Most of the time they are just misunderstood.

Could you imagine having to defend your non-belief on a regular basis?

Its difficult.

I can only imagine.

To think about it, religious people are spending time praying or going to church. They live by a book that they think is written by someone they hold respected and holy. They pray to God, whom they never seen. I'm not disparaging believers, but the whole thing is set on spirituality, not concrete reality.
From the point of view of an atheist, people are doing all those for nothing. From the day the priest were selling lands of Heaven to this day when religions are against homosexuality while some priests are molested. Nations are fighting because of their opposite religions. So atheists may find these very disturbing and unnecessary.

You would be angry too if you had to put up with discrimination and hatred from damn near every religious person we come in contact with. Furthermore the theocratic laws that the Christians who have hijacked our government put in place infringe on our constitutional freedoms.

As far as being pessimistic that is not really true.

I dispute your premise. I know I get angry when I'm confronted with holier-than-thou types who think they have the answers to everything, even though the answer is usually, "Because God said so, that's why." Pessimistic? Well, I guess you can call someone pessimistic who prefers not to delude himself about a fantasy afterlife . I prefer to view it as "realistic." I also think this view allows me to enjoy life more, because I don't see it as a nuisance to be endured until I die and get to the good stuff.

I'm not pessimistic. I have great hopes for the future, including the hope that eventually people won't feel they need religion.

I'm not in general an angry person, but I get pretty p-o-ed at the religious people who refuse to live and let live, but instead keep trying to shove their insane beliefs down my throat.

You should spend every waking moment of your life praying for our salvation (except, of course, time out for eating and other physical necessities).

Why don't you shut down your computer and start right away?

Of course - *each* amd *every* atheist is angry and pessimistic.

Maybe we're angry at the generalisations and pessimistic that too many people are waiting to god to sort out the world's problems insetad of taking the initiative ourselves.......

I'm an athiest. and as ANY of my friends would tell you (yes some are catholic and other religions) they will tell you i'm one of the bubbliest most happy go lucky people you'll ever meet!! I don't think you should single out all athiests as being angry and pessemistic.... i could name a number of religious people that are exactly that, but i would never generalize people of faith as being angry or pessemistic!!! So try and be a little more considerate and tollerable of other people's faiths and belifes and perhaps you'll meet some people who are in better humour :)

I am neither angry nor pessimistic. Seems like you might be describing yourself. After all you are the one you is insulting and calling names about millions of people whom you have never met. Maybe if you could drop your hatred for a while you could get rid of that anger and you too could acheive the peace and contentment that comes with lack of god addiction.

I am not angry. Actually, I am quite happy. I am pessimistic about certain things.

Actually we aren't. I am a very happy person until someone starts to tell me that I have to believe in a fictional character.

Why are Christians always trying to label people? Why are there more religious people in jail for rape, murder and robbery then atheist? Why are religious figures and their children more likely to do drugs, commit felonies, commit adultery?
