Remember, the Bible was written by Men, translated, retranslated, updated, and translated some more into numerous foreign languages. No one really knows for sure exactly what God had said except for those who were supposedly there.
If you have ever played the game 'telephone', you know exactly what I am getting at.
As far as the blob, it is scientific. Scientific evidence is important in one sense, but not in another. Sure, it can ATTEMPT to deny or verify some religious stories/artifiacts, but it is an ongoing discovery process and one in which we are living in the infant stages of. Science says one thing one day, and something else the next.
Furthermore, just being an accidental blob would infer that human creation is finite. So, when we die, we die. But if you have ever come face to face with a tall, hooded, and all black evil entity that sent chills down your spine and sealed your mouth shut with the $hit you crapped from your pants, you may start believing in the afterlife.
As the binary suggests, if there is evil, there must be good. God does exist. No doubt about it.

This is one of those questions that goes nowhere. It is the blob. Ok where did the blob come from? I don't know. Exactly, god created it. Where did god come from? Blah blah blah. This doesn't solve anything. Why can't people accept a god and a blob. Personally to me god didn't create anything, god is just someone who omnipotent. God is just there to pray to and guide us. That is if you believe in god. The blob makes more sense from an evolutionary standpoint. If god really was the creator then why are creatures different now, why are some extinct? What kind of god would let his creation die? We can go on this all day and all night.

Origin of Man's free will and spirituality - gift from All-Powerful God.
Man's physical being - custom made from single cell blob complements of All-Powerful God.
An all-powerful God can create however He chooses to - the KAZOT! method or the evolutionary method. He is, after all, all-powerful.

Where did the blob come from?
Does it really matter? Or is it just an attempt to make one look absolutely true and the other absolutely false?

The two ideas are not necessarily mutually exclusive. A Supreme Being may be (or may not be) behind the origins and seeding of life in the universe and then we evolved from there. No one really knows for sure, to say otherwise is a lie. Although I do believe the evidence of evolution is overwhelming I don't believe it disproves the existence of God, a Universal Spirit, Supreme Being, whatever you want to call it.
