I actually looked this up because my daughter has birth defects and I was on depo BEFORE I got pregnant with her. There are several different birth defects it CAN cause, but that doesn't mean it always does. Do an internet search on depo and pregnancy.

I'm not to sure but I highly doubt that would happen. I was on the depo for three months. After I got off I tried to conceive and it took me a year and a half just because of the shot. I didn't even get my period until about six months after I got off. You should consult your doctor if you have any concerns or questions.

In the first trimester, if a baby is concieved while the mother is on birth control, there is a small chance of the baby having birth defects. As SOON as a person finds out they are pregnant they should go off of bc. I would say definitely contact their doctor as well.

I'm on the shot now because it works. I got off the shot in Jan 2003. I got pregnant Nov. 2003. So it takes a while for it to get out of your system.
